ICAO Global Reporting Format

Available in January 2019

The ICAO Global Reporting Format course has been developed by ACI and ICAO to assist airport operators understand and meet the new ICAO requirements for runway surface condition assessment and reporting that come into effect in November 2020 as part of ICAO’s Global Reporting Format initiative.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Understand and meet the new ICAO GRF requirements for runway surface condition assessment and reporting
  • Successfully use the ICAO Runway Condition Assessment Matrix (RCAM) to assess and report on runway surface conditions

Course Content

The ICAO Global Reporting Format course covers the following topics:

  1. Background to the ICAO Global Reporting Format
    The background to the ICAO Global Reporting Format and the changing requirements for runway surface condition assessment and reporting
  2. Runway Condition Assessment Matrix (RCAM)
    The elements of the Runway Condition Assessment Matrix (RCAM) – the globally harmonized method for airport operators to assess and report on runway surface conditions
  3. Adjusted Runway Condition Codes
    The process to follow if runway surface conditions appear to be better or worse than indicated by the Runway Condition Codes obtained from the RCAM
  4. When to Conduct a Runway Condition Assessment
    When airport operators are required to assess and report on runway surface conditions and the importance of, and methods for, continuously monitoring runway conditions
  5. Conducting a Runway Condition Assessment
    The steps required to:
    o Conduct a Runway Condition Assessment
    o Determine the correct Runway Condition Codes (RWYCC)
    o Submit the Runway Condition Report (RCR)
  6. Runway Condition Worksheet
    How to use a Runway Condition Worksheet developed by ACI to record runway condition data and generate the Runway Condition Report (RCR)
  7. Example Scenarios
    A series of scenarios that allow learners to practice using the RCAM and the Runway Condition Worksheet to assess and report on runway surface conditions

Assessment
This training course includes an integrated online assessment. Candidates must successfully complete the assessment to receive a Certificate of Completion.
