Nacala International Airport Terminal nominated for architecture prize

Airport terminal design

Are you interested in customer centric terminal design and operations? The Certificate in Terminal and Landside Operations gives you a comprehensive understanding of terminal design categories, and the advantages and disadvantages of each.

An example of an effective and innovatively designed terminal is Mozambique’s new Nacala International Airport, which has been shortlisted for a prestigious prize in the 2015/16 African Property Awards. Renowned Brazilian architects Fernandes Arquitetos Associados designed the terminal with its strong, modern architectural lines and open, bright spaces.

Reflecting on the best features of his terminal design, architect Daniel Hopf Fernandes says that the open-plan format of his terminal maximizes passenger flow, ensuring passenger commutes from the terminal to landside, and vice versa, are fast and efficient. This spacious design also allows for floor-to-ceiling, sweeping views of both the terminal and landside surroundings.
